President’s Message
Here we are with almost a quarter of the year already in the rear-view mirror and it feels like the holidays were just last week. It seems like daylight savings came a little early this year, but I do enjoy driving home in the sunlight and still have daylight for a while after I get home.
We are trying something new this year with an Annual Sponsorship/Chapter Membership. We are hoping this will be more appealing to our service provider partners. Depending on your selection, this single sponsorship will provide recognition throughout the year, attendance at in-person events and opportunities for our annual Golf Classic, which we all know everyone enjoys. Check out the various packages and see what works best for your organization.
Once again, in January Ryan Nell, of Pettit Kohn Ingrassia Lutz & Dolin, spoke on Employment Law Update. As usual, Ryan had a fantastic presentation. Employment law is ever changing, and it is so important to stay ahead of the curve. I hope your HR team were able to attend.
In February Dr Debra Dupree, presented on the Navigating the Interactive Process. This too was a terrific presentation. Dr Dupree has a passion for her work, and it is clear in her presentations. I like that she took the process and showed it can be used in a multitude of ways for conflict resolution. Addressing things early on is bound to result in a better outcome.
This month, March, we have Steve Robles speaking on Career Advancement Tips for Risk Professionals. In light of this theme, we would like to invite all of you who have earned the ARM, CPCU and/or the CRMP designation in 2023 and/or 2024 to be our guest at this meeting. We would like to recognize you for your accomplishment. If you qualify, please reach out to us at sdrims@sdrims.org and let us know your name, the designation and date of accomplishment. We will provide you with a discount code to attend the meeting complimentary.
On April 24th, we have a virtual event with Caitlin Jones speaking on Client Trust Account Protection Program (CTAPP). This session qualifies for 1 unit of MCLE on ethics. Share this opportunity with your in-house counsel, or any CA attorney you know that may be looking to satisfy their required continuing education credits. You must be present for the full presentation to qualify.
In May, we have RISKWORLD. Not a convenient as when it is in San Diego, but Chicago and be a fun town. Let us know if you plan to attend. We hope to get together again for a little happy hour between the closing keynote and the Sedgwick closing event. Reach out to sdrims@sdrims.org and let us know your interest in connecting. Last year we had people from the Nevada and LA chapter join us as well.
May also brings us the Risk Manager Roundtable. This event is closed to risk managers, the conversation is often around what we experienced at RISKWORLD but can also lead to other topics of interest for those that attend. This type of networking is what makes our organization great. If you are a risk manager, I hope you can join us on that day.
Save the date for our Mar-Tee Gras: The Ultimate Golf Mardi Gras Themed Tournament on Friday, August 1, 2025 at our usual place, Coronado Golf Course. I say this every year, but it is still true, this is our number one fundraiser, and a great time is had by all.
A warm welcome to the following member who joined San Diego RIMS in the last 3 months:
Professional Member:
Daniel Midani, Risk Manager III, Amazon
Looking forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming events.
Respectfully,
Cheryl Berman
